Who is woman, and what is at the heart of the vocation of motherhood? St. John Paul II captures both the nature and the vocation of woman when he writes that a woman is called to testify to the existence and the depth of the love “with which every human being—man and woman—is loved by God in Christ.” The special mission of every woman is “to welcome and to care for the human person.” Our time in particular “awaits the manifestation of that ‘genius’ which belongs to women, and which can ensure sensitivity for human beings in every circumstance.”
