The story did not get going fast enough.

I am not much of a movie goer, so probably no. I would download or rent the dvd though.

interesting but too fast

The setup for this one was interesting but too fast. Braelin is in an apocalyptic world, by herself. Her entire family has died from a cold, and she is left to fend for herself. Her father has told her to stay away from the woods, but as a last resort she decides to go into the woods because she has no other means of survival. While in the woods she hears some men and runs away. They give chase but lose her.

Braelin winds up finding a home where someone used to live. He has all the means and securities, like androids that grow food, so she immediately feels safe and stays there.

The portion about the woods was the first strange part. There is no real reason from her father of why not to go into the woods, but later in the book other people talk about it and it is explained.

The time lapses are also strange. I wanted to get to know Braelin but there are so many times when time just jumps. There are some moments here and there where she sees someone in her woods, or when she’s talking to her robots, but that’s pretty much it. The robots also do everything from growing food to alerting her if someone is coming near, while she is away from the house. They can even tell her how to get out of traps. Like her own personal google. It all seemed too easily set up instead of lived through. It gave me a two dimensional look at who she was and how she was surviving.

Then she meets the brothers. The second portion of the book is about this almost love triangle, but not quite. I really hate love triangles, for so many obvious reasons. She smart but she gets herself into a lot of trouble with these two.

The ending is okay but again, it is forced. I wanted to really get to know Braelin but I feel that a lot was glossed over. It was a good story but not one of my favorites.

The narrator did do an outstanding job of ensuring the many characters in this were different. The audio was just as good. I loved Caitlyn Marshall’s narration, especially for Braelin. She just seems to have the right sound. Plus her voice is really pleasing to listen to. She did not whine, even when Braelin was down and out. Which is partially the character but also how the narrator brings that character forward. Although this story was not really my favorite, I really enjoyed Caitlyn’s take on it.

Good story

This was an interesting story. There were definite dark places. Being on her own so young Braelin was such an innocent when faced with love and desire. Learning the hard way that people are not always what they seem almost cost her life. Timber and Aravon were such opposites as most families are. This story shows that the path to happiness can be long and hard, yet still get your happily ever after.

This girl goes through the wringer for sure

A girl in a world that is falling apart when a virus starts killing people, well some people. They don’t know why some people were killed but not others. It seems that mostly the people that survived were younger. In this story where there’s a group of bullies, a group of people that help, and a girl who isn’t quite sure where to fit in. She finds an awesome home in the woods that becomes hers along with all the survival things that she needs to survive and a couple of robots that run the house. She ends up falling in love with someone, gets betrayed, then is taken to be someone else’s and tortured. This poor girl goes through the wringer, but she keeps coming out on the other side. There was a time or two where I didn’t know if she was going to make it, but Brealyn pulled through. She ends up with a happy ending, which she rightfully deserves after going through everything she does. There were a few parts where the book lagged a bit with unnecessary information, but overall I give this book a solid 4 STARS!!

Sure would....it's very well written and a very good story

I'd have to say Brealen...she is a strong character an Caitlin Marshall brings her to life very well

What does Caitlin Marshall bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I think she adds the emotion you feel well reading a book like this...she did really well with all of characters....

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I hate this question...hard to answer without giving away spoilers...but I can say there were more then few that hit me hard...both sad an happy

This is a genre I wouldn't normally read but once I started it I couldn't stop....if your looking for a book that has a strong female lead an a story line you just can't quit...this is the book for you

Um, no

-A "character" is all on her own all of what, an hour before finding a place that solves every living alone issue.
-Got dark pretty quick. Not to give anything away, but let's say your raper hugged you an hour later while you slept?. Do you say "thank you" and think oh how nice. He forces a kiss that you know is leading to rape and you think "no stop, even though my teenage hormones are raging I don't think I want to be raped". Yeah, not natural reactions. I hope anyway.
-It goes into great details not necessarily important then jumps years/days etc.
