Maggie Corey is starting her life over after her marriage and professional life both imploded from personal betrayal. She’s come to Hope’s Crossing for a second chance managing her aunt’s herb shop. But all is not as it seems in this small, Massachusetts mountain town. Maggie has walked into the midst of a generational feud between survivors of the Salem Witch Trials, and a deadly enemy with a long-standing grudge. Unfortunately for Maggie, whoever it is seems determined to drive her back out of town by any means necessary--including framing her for crimes she didn’t commit. It’s now well into spring, and plucky Maggie has mostly recovered from the terrifying break-in by a suspected rogue witch who was out to take her life. It’s weeding and seeding time in the herb garden, as she learns the hard way that her aunt’s herb stores take a lot of time, sweat, dirty hands and mosquito bites to keep stocked. Continuing to learn more witchcraft from Bramble, the family cat familiar, Maggie has also delved into her aunt’s written history of the town, which now no longer looks like fiction to her more experienced eyes. She has started very tentatively coffee-dating with the Sheriff, as well as spending more time with his curious daughter. Sales in the shop are rising again, and soon enough the first seedlings appear in Maggie’s garden. There’s only one problem--the mysterious manipulator behind the attempts to frame Maggie and drive her from the town is at it again. This time, it looks so much like obvious magic that even Maggie has to wonder. Influential and well-liked local farmer Timmy Drake has come to town with an alarming story that he backs up with photographs. While the formerly barren hills are now covered in a soft and growing green, not a single sprout grows in Drake’s fields. What looks like a classic witch’s curse may be something else entirely. But until Maggie can prove that, she’ll find herself under very familiar--and dangerous--scrutiny once again. Acogedor Detectives Mujeres Misterio Mágico Brujería Usuarios de magia Emocionante
