In The War God's Own, Bahzell had managed to stop a war by convincing Baron Tellian, leader of the Sothoii, to "surrender" to him, the War God's champion. Of course, those problems are all in a day's work for a champion of the War God. But what is Bahzell going to do about the fact that Baron Tellian's daughter, and heir to the realm, seems to be thinking that he is the only man - or hradani - for her?

14 hours before the first sword is drawn.

I like the series. I do! However, this book had very little action compared to the first two. After listening to 14 hours, the main characters hadn't drawn their swords or traveled anywhere. A lot of political movement and discussion of a 14-year old girl's love for her parents and lamenting her station in life.

It just shows you what a great writer Weber is that I was able to stick to the end. I still love the series ... just hoping the next book has more action.

Fun book

The War God books are a great series. Just fun books with a great story.

a nice series...but

I really love the characters, the humor, and the bro-mance, but the constantly going back and forth to cover all the bad guys gets to be to much after a while, especially in book three and four. by book four i gave up and started fast forwarding through the chapters that deal with how the bad guys think and what they plan. once you have covered their actions and beliefs, there's not much more than endless repetition; gloating about how clever they are and later consternation when the good guys come in and whack them. once you've gone through the process once or twice you basically know what they are going to say and do, and by book three and four its a worn out formula. over all an enjoyable series and i think the narrator did a great job. not a great story, (though it could be if they cut out all those villein chapters), but well worth the listen.

Running the Gears

The reader is excellent, and like the author, only improves with each book in this series. Furthermore, all four books read like power shifting of a manual transmission; your head snaps back as each book accelerates past the previous novels; a very satisfying experience.

Can’t miss

Don’t know why never read series but really enjoyed audio Actually great as audiobook. Maybe even better than reading.

One of my favorites in the series

My only slight complaint is I did NOT imagine the Sothoii having the...Polish? accent the narrator gives them. Still, he’s got a great voice for Bahzell and I enjoyed the whole thing throughly!

A fantastic sequel.

As far as sequels go they do not get any better than this. Loved it tremendously. I can't wait to read the fourth book in the series.

Adventures of Heroes

This is an adventure that still features our favorite Hadrani, but it also pays attention to many other heroes and develops the overall story nicely. A solid entry in the series.
