M. Gamble, an international best-selling and award-winning author, is proud to present Willow Down.
How is a murdered man able to return from the dead and kill off more of his own colleagues? Mitch Perry, NYPD homicide detective, faces his ultimate challenge as he criss-crosses New York City hunting down the individual capable of such a horrific feat.
Join along as the author uses story, original art, and poetry to convey an ever twisting plotline. Get set to let your mind wander and then ponder through life's odd subtleties as you trek through the financial and meat packing districts. Enjoy a cocktail at the Pink Camel and spend some time with eccentric characters like Tommy LoveBottom. Then, jet off to Oahu to recalibrate your soul's settings before returning to New York City to complete the task at hand - solving a triple homicide.
Using New York and Hawaii as backdrops for the crime of the century, Willow Down is a suspenseful, quirky, psychological thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end.

I enjoyed the book overall. I liked the "villain" of the book best, and enjoyed the author's descriptions of how he carried out the murders and his motivation. The villain and his actions were the most interesting and compelling portions of the book. The detective was a nice man who was a bit bland but enjoyable.
The author does not use dialog to further the story, but instead relies on "he told me that..." and other elliptical means of communicating new information. Because of this lack of direct interaction, everything occurs in first person in the detective's mind (and in third person in the murderer's actions). Personally, I prefer finding things out in dialog, but the detective is a contemplative person, hence the poetry and meditations on various spiritual topics. I'm sure that musing about the soul and its presence or absence is appropriate after several murders... but it didn't quite fit together for me.
I received this audiobook for free with the stipulation that I write a review for it. (Except that my promo code didn't work so I paid for it anyway!).

I liked how the story flowed. It was a bit confusing at times because of the poetry, but overall, the story captured my interest and imagination throughout.
The narrator enunciated the words clearly, and his voice was easy to listen to.
Kept my interest from start to finish.

The story didn't grip me, but it was easy to finish it.
The murder mystery was not believable to me. A light read.
Narration is good, it is clear and concise.
