Resumen del Editor

Nine-year-old Ethan Cooper has managed to keep his family together for a year in a Pennsylvania orphanage. Now he and his siblings are boarding a train headed west. He can't help but worry: Mr. and Mrs. Rush in Nebraska have agreed to adopt all four Cooper children, but what if they change their minds?

In the meantime, Ethan and his siblings encounter their first dust storm, explore train cars, and watch friend after friend leave with new parents. The children dream that soon they will have a new ma and pa too.

Based on the story of a real family, this second book in the historical Beyond the Orphan Train series reminds us that God never leaves us, no matter how far we journey to find home.

Whistle stop West

The four Cooper children and their friend Bert has been selected to travel west in search of a forever home.
I have enjoyed getting to know Ethan and his siblings. The adventure continues via train to the west. The other children are chosen(adopted) into a family in western towns. My favorite part was when Simon bumped into a circus midget.

Very interesting about the orphans lives!

I dislike the ending for the 4 siblings- it’s fiction- they didn’t have to go to unloving parents.

Great storytelling based on real life

It's delightful to hear positive stories about the orphan trains and how carefully they were planned and run, especially since other authors' orphan train books I've read only tell bad examples. My enjoyment of this series is especially real because this series is based on a man's memories. The storytelling is excellent and the audio reader is superb with voices so I could tell which character was talking before being told. I really like the chapters where each orphan is chosen. A great added feature are the discussion topics at the end of the book!
