The skeleton is soon identified as former Mayor Alfred Brewer, missing since the 1980s—and someone wanted him forgotten.

Drawn into the mystery by a series of cryptic clues, Julia begins unraveling a web of corrupt land deals, vanished council records, and betrayals that stretch back generations. With her loyal dog Cooper and spunky librarian Lucy by her side, Julia follows riddles through dusty archives, hidden time capsules, and town traditions like the masked Fall Festival Ball.

Two town pillars—Lucy’s charming but evasive uncle and the affable mayor—seem too eager to downplay the past. But when a second puzzle box arrives with a chilling threat, Julia realizes the killer is still watching.
