Resumen del Editor

It’s hard to come up with a big idea - but it doesn’t have to be. Because great ideas don’t come from the inside-out - they come from the outside-in. The good stuff is out there, waiting. We just have to know how to see it. And in our fast-changing work world, this might be the most useful skill our teams can have.

Here, organizational culture expert Daniel Coyle talks about the books that helped shape his own creative process. Join Daniel, along with an observant young spy who’s a pro at connecting the dots, a cadre of supersonic test pilots and astronauts racing to be first, and a team that dared to use math to win - and learn about three concrete steps your team can take to strengthen idea-generation muscles and make eureka moments happen more often.

Key Takeaways:

  • Change Your Mind: Small shifts (like sitting in a new seat) can reveal hidden opportunities all around us
  • Find the Right Details: Practices to train your powers of observation
  • Practice Reframing: Tips for turning small insights into big ideas
  • Elevate Your Team: Practices for getting your team into the right headspace - like “flash mentoring”

About the Mentor:

Daniel Coyle has spent 25 years studying organizations and figuring out how teams generate big ideas that transform how we work and live. Daniel is the New York Times best-selling author of The Talent Code and most recently The Culture Code, which won top business book awards from Bloomberg, Business Insider, and Amazon. He works as a contributing editor for Outside magazine and as a special adviser to the Cleveland Indians.

Observe. Frame and reframe

For the idea generation. Short 40 minute listen. Basically a short story or hour lecture on the topic. Good narration and storytelling.

Not sure what I just heard

I think the title is great. The book got off to a good start, but before long I was confused. Also, the background music was quite distracting

Simply Perfect!

Thank you Mr. Coyle! A complete teaching that gives any one a perfect foundation for creativity while also providing a more accurate meaning of the word creativity. All of this in about the same time as one might take for lunch.

Nothing to Say but Say a Lot of It

There is nothing striking in this piece. Everyone with a brain knows what there is of information here.

He reads rather well tho, as a narrator.

Misleading Title and No Valuable Information

The story starts off with the author speaking about having a dad who was a doctor and how he could have been a doctor as well but instead decided to be a writer. He then discussed getting ideas for writing but then took a sharp turn before making a point about this subject to talk about a fictional character that just observes other people and write stuff down.

Not only was the story confusing but there just simply was nothing groundbreaking in the content... The key point of the story is to observe and write things down. And quite frankly many of the examples do not talk about big ideas... or frankly any ideas. And it certainly made me less inclined to purchase anything that author was trying to sell. The only result is that I wish I could get my 30 minutes back.
