I keep writing in reviews that horror is not one of my preferred genres, but I think this book has permanently changed that idea. With the feeling that I just binge-watched a season of Black Mirror or Twilight Zone, the varied style and mid- to dark tones herein were delightfully crafted in dark thoughts and character actions, with occasional supernatural or other devious forces in play. Tony Deurmier brought each story to life with impeccable narration and a silky smooth delivery spoken calmly over the dust of a recently unburried coffin. The 20+ mini-adventures kept me fully engaged and definitely wanting more at the end. Here's hoping for a volume 2 at some point in the future. [Disclosure: I received this title for free and listened at 1.5x.]
