Narrated by Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro himself, this audiobook offers a grounded and intimate portrait of life in public service.

Where We Keep the Light is the story of public service and personal faith. From an early age, Josh Shapiro learned and practiced the power of showing up, listening, and executing, to make people’s lives a little better. In the pages of this account of his life, Shapiro relates powerful stories about his family, his faith, and what matters to Americans tired of all the divisiveness and distrust in our leaders.

Reflecting on what he’s learned by knocking on doors, serving his community, and tackling the tough problems that no one wanted to touch in new and different ways, Shapiro reminds us that government can be a force for good, that conventional wisdom is rarely wise, and there’s more that unites Americans than divides us.

Shapiro is answering a call to service at a time when we need leaders like him to step up. Where We Keep the Light is a must-read account of his life and what lies ahead.

I loved the overt commitment to Shapiro’s faith and family. It doesn’t get any better than this. I’m also glad he chose to stay in the role of Governor. The people of Pennsylvania are blessed to have his principled leadership.

Values trump Fame

I wanted to know more about Governor Shapiro and got that out of this book and out of his reading of the book. His story inspires. Especially in this time in our nation’s history marked by heightened divisiveness, his is a message of working together, being ethical and getting things done. I have no doubt that if he chooses 2028 to be the right decision for he and his family, that he would be a great President. I just hope he doesn’t get derailed by antisemitism’s ugly pervasiveness.

Next President?

This book contains the words we all need to hear from politicians and public servants in these times. Through these stories Gov. Shapiro shows that it's not only possible to connect with people you may disagree with, but crucial if we're going to keep the American dream alive, and makes the case that at the end of the day, your intuition may be your best and truest guide. Walked away uplifted and inspired.

The message of hope and resilience even in dark times.

What an incredible story about a great leader. He has served PA well and he will serve our County well as President one day. Well written, fascinating story!

Love Josh Shapiro!

This may not be the book for those who consider themselves on the extreme ends of either the right or the left, though they are likely those who might appreciate it the most, if they gave it a shot. Mr. Shapiro’s story of faith and public service is one that I wish more politicians and public servants shared, regardless of religion - or lack thereof.

Even if he never holds any other office, his words convey what many presidents, prime ministers and even monarchs seem to not understand: those who serve the public must connect with those they represent, understand their problems, and work to make their lives better.

Well worth the listen
