When the Flies Swarm recounts the life of young Devin Dixon. We follow a growing boy from the urban backdrop of Baltimore, Maryland in the early 90s just as the crack epidemic unfolds. Devin ends up in rural South Carolina after his mother is crippled by the drug. The youngster is often left alone to daydream and to find his own way in an ever-changing reality. Through hardships, confusion, and chaos, Dixon struggles to be normal. Between problems, pain, and poverty, will he make it out?

I was so intrigued by the print copy, I couldn’t wait for the audiobook!!! And it does not disappoint!! The audio really brings the story to life!! Listening to this truly connects you to the author; you can feel his pain and his struggles as a young boy forced to grow up before his time! This is an excellent book and highly recommended!!
