Teen angst

I enjoyed this listen. However I did find myself easily distracted from this audiobook. There were riviting portions to this story. Hated the cliff hanger ending. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Sad and sweet teen romance.

Sweet story with a lot of teen angst. I liked the characters very much. I would like to see this story continued. I voluntarily reviewed this audio book after receiving an advanced copy that I requested.

Sweet, lovely story

This was my first time reading or listening to a book by this author. Personally I was not to fond of the narrator. As the female perspective the narrator was fine, but when talking in the male perspective I couldn't get myself to like how the narrator made him sound. The story part was lovely and sweet and I will definitely give book 2 a shot.

loved it. well worth the listen ..twice

I received a copy of this for review purposes. First let me say this is outside my normal reading/listening but I loved it. It was well written and well read. I am probably older than it's intended audience but it brought back memories of my high school days. also made me consider high school with cell phones so common. With all the changes interpersonal relations are still the same. actually listened to it twice and enjoyed it both times

When You Came Back by Yesenia Vargas was a great book. Katie never expected to see Brian again after he moved away and never said goodbye at nine years old. Now that they are in high school he has come back and her best friend Adam isn't happy about that. I loved this book and can't wait to read the rest of the series and more by the author.

For a short read this one was awesome!

What made the experience of listening to When You Came Back the most enjoyable?

I loved the narrator on this one(minus her Spanish mispronunciations). She brought Katia's story to life! When you came back is filled with enough mystery to make you want to turn the page. I kept asking myself, WHAT HAPPENED TO BRIAN'S SISTER????? Lol. It was driving me bananas but overall I loved it! Especially that Ms. Vargas writes Latinx heroes and heroines. That's my favorite part of her writing being Latinx myself! I do hope she comes out with an audiobook for book two because that cliffy has me a bit in my feelings!

Katie remeets Brian after a long while. Somehow he doesn't seem to be the same person he once was. When she looks into his eyes, there is definitely a glimmer of the boy who once was, even though he tells her to go away. Great story and easy to listen to.

Terrific tale of teenage struggles & love!

A great story of being a teenager in love and all of the struggles of going through that age leading up to adulthood. Reading this book brought me back to all of the feelings that I had growing up. The author did a wonderful job of tapping into all of those emotions that you feel as a teenager and especially as a teenager in love. The added twist of dealing with immigration problems puts another dimension in the story. It is a very enjoyable book.

I didn’t enjoy this one.

This is a definite reason why I usually read reviews for spoilers. This book wasn’t exactly the best writing and it had a lot of highs and lows, and back and forth. Just when you think they have it figured out, the male leads entire family decides to move back to Mexico and they break up. There are some books that are just so gripping/moving that can still enjoy the book with a heartbreaking ending. This just isn’t that book. It’s very much a YA novel, with juvenile writing. It just wasn’t worth it.
