There couldn't be a better book showing the reality of Korea during the invasion of the Japanese
It was the best book I really admire it

Great historical fiction!

Listened to this with my 9/10 year olds on a car trip. We really enjoyed it and the history lessons. The narration was great, and the story did an excellent job explaining the history without internet searching for the backstory.

This book is amazing

i cried so many times, from joy, anger and saddness. if you love historical fiction please read this one

i just binged this straight through

i love the historical references that give you good timelines of when evemts take place. checkpoints so you know how much time has passed and even culture benchmarks that tell of how life was and what norms were common. i will absolutely read again.

A good story about how Korea felt about the Japanese occupation before and during WWII.

A beautiful and moving story

I really enjoyed how this story was developed, specially having the girl's and the boy's perspective on the events. It is a beautiful and moving story, that even brought me to tears at times. It gave me much insight into certain aspects of the Korean culture, particularly, gender roles and how these were affected by the war. The narrators were spectacular, as well.

New Perspective of WWII

Characters who value family and country in times of oppression make for an engaging read. The plot had plenty of twists and turns to keep me interested. I especially liked how each character used his/her individual strengths to show bravery.

A must read

I listened in two days and it was absolutely unforgettable. I love the sister-brother duo. I love historical fiction, but even if you don't it's still a great book. it's important to not only understand American history, but Korean, and Japanese too, it's a whole new view to these events, and an important message; everyone deserves freedom, and a choice.

wonderful and Suspenseful

I absolutely loved this book. I learned so much about this dark time in Korean History.

Interesting story and told very well!

I thought this book was very good, it was very interesting but a little hard to follow in some chapters. The performance was very good though, the acting was very great and I would totally listen more than once!
