When I Was Young

Chad Barrett already felt separated from God.
Now his wife has died from a prescription drug overdose, and the sixty-four year old writer feels that his chronic unfaithfulness was to blame.

Left to live alone, and haunted by his estrangement from one of his sons, Chad decides to travel to random places, hoping to find solace from his guilt, his grief and angst of aging.

What he does not know is that his wandering will bring him into constant contact with people who remind him that God’s grace and forgiveness are his for the asking. Still, he struggles with doubts and uncertainties, as do those he encounters.

He is torn by anger toward God, and his desire to become a believer. When I was Young is a story of loss and redemption, regret and hope. It is a reminder that God’s presence is constant, even when we avert our gaze from Him.
