Twin mysteries, years apart, connect two mothers and their daughters in a gripping novel of psychological suspense by New York Times bestselling author Lauren Oliver.

Who in their right mind would move into the Faraday House, with its grim history and a generation spent rotting and untended? Rachel Vale and her daughter, Lucy.

They’ve arrived unexpectedly, yet with peculiar purpose, to Woodward, Indiana, to rent the most infamous house in town. Here, sixteen years ago, Nina Faraday vanished without a trace and her mother was found hanging from an apple tree in the front yard. It was the stuff of ghoulish fascination and dark imaginings. Old rumors are stirred up all over again by an online community of teenagers now fixated on Lucy, the new girl in school…especially when Lucy’s shattering romance with the swim team star becomes another small-town obsession.

This time the kids in Woodward will be asking: What happened to Lucy Vale?

Parallel mysteries soon converge—about two teenage girls, nearly two decades apart, both consumed by the stories and suspicions of others. Only a mother can bring the truth to devastating light.

Reseñas de la Crítica

What Happened to Lucy Vale by award winning novelist Lauren Oliver is original, compelling, and memorable. Especially recommended.” —Midwest Book Review

“A brutally funny satire with a dark mystery nestled in its core. A Lauren Oliver novel is always a page-turner, but this one is uniquely ambitious, complex, and comic.” —E. Lockhart, author of We Were Liars and Genuine Fraud

“Lauren Oliver’s latest novel is a sharp and harrowing mystery for the digital age, in which teens join together in anonymous virtual Greek choruses to comment and pass judgment on their peers, even as they absolve themselves from responsibility for their fates. Oliver’s unique approach to structure and her parallel storylines create an immersive and captivating reading experience as she cleverly explores the cyclical nature of abuse, the dizzying highs and lows of popularity, and the dangerous allure of groupthink. I inhaled this book like a gulp of fresh air after a long swim, but like the residents of Woodward, Indiana, I imagine it will be a long time before I stop thinking about What Happened to Lucy Vale.” —Lauren Thoman, author of You Shouldn’t Be Here and I’ll Stop the World

WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO LUCY VALE? I have no idea and you won’t either when you finish the book.

The *only* reason I didn’t one star this book is because I loved the way Lauren Oliver used the WE point of view. Elin Hilderbrand uses WE as a point of view in some of her novels to capture everyday residents of Nantucket in the same manner.

I’d only recommend this book to people who don’t care about plot resolution.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A mystery that hits hard to the brash impact of social media, gossip, and how the things we say can affect others deeply. Two stories intertwined, past and present, about the loss of life and missing girls.

A journalist return to the town she visited as a teenager to investigate the case of a girl she new when she was younger. Putting her daughter in the local HS and investigating the cold case of a girl named Nina.

The story expounds to the constant barrage of a Discord, the gossip of anonymous students in the school and how the gossip turns on the journalist daughter, Lucy.

Very well written, and forces you to reflect on similr moments we all experience through school and sadly still in adulthood.

Well Done!
