Resumen del Editor

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez may seem like she came from nowhere, but the movement that propelled her to office - and to global political stardom - has been building for 30 years. We’ve Got People is the story of that movement, which first exploded into public view with the largely forgotten presidential run of the Rev. Jesse Jackson, a campaign that came dangerously close to winning. With the party and the nation at a crossroads, this timely and original audiobook offers new insight into how we’ve gotten where we are - and where we're headed.

Progressive Crack.

Ryan Grim takes an honest look at the Democratic Party and where people centered polices and actions can head in the present day.

Take away the sub-optimal reading, and it's the best thing you can buy with a Credit.

Very good history of the Progressive resurgence

Ryan Grim does a great job of highlighting how the modern progressive movement got its legs, made its first steps and stumbles, and began to find its own stride.

Grim’s inside knowledge of political workings lets him give a fair evaluation of what strategies have worked for the movement, which ones didn’t, and why. He’s gotten to watch and interact with the people involved so is able to point out how they grew along with the movement itself.

There are a few places, usually when Grim dives into the particulars of multiple individual actors’ machinations, when it bogs down a bit. He’ll introduce all the people playing against each other in one of the events he covers and it can be a hassle to keep track of who they all are, what they’re doing to each other, and how it feeds back into the bigger narrative.

Overall it was a great read, very informative, and provides a good look inside what a political movement is actually like.

Excellent and illuminating, despite tech "issue"

If you want to understand the coming trend in U.S. politics, read (or listen to) this book!
Engaging & captivating - only marred by a tech "issue", that rendered Chapter 19 -- the chapter about AOC, the Justice Democrats, and The Young Turks unintelligible.
I can't imagine why Audible/Amazon wouldn't want me to hear about AOC, the Justice Democrats, and The Young Turks. You'll have to find out for yourself...

An Insider's Look at Today's Progressive Wave

DC insider books are typically written by centrist journalists without a single real political opinion. Grim's book has an opinion. His progressive worldview gives the book a voice and drive that other DC-centric political histories lack. The Hill to Die On, written by two Politico editors, tells another thorough history of recent political events -- but it lacks any depth, because it's told with a view from nowhere. Grim gives an engaging, people-centered history of the new progressive movement up to the 2020 Democratic primary. Highly recommend.

Needs A Knowledgeable Rrader

The reader sounds out each individual letter of acronyms. This is highly distracting. For example, the dee cee cee cee instead of the D triple C. Also the reader shouldn't try to mimic voices as he is horrible at it. The content was great but the reader was horrible.

Ryan did a wonderful job.

The title says it all. Ryan did a good job retelling these progressive stories. Not narrated by author, but that's fine.
