Having been raised in California by a Korean father and American mother, Lainey grows up in a balance between traditional values and modern thinking.
Passionate about fabrics, she graduates from college with a degree in fashion design with her particular interests residing in how fabrics can be used to communicate a person's state of mind and essence.
Soon after graduating, she accepts an internship in Paris to study with a new designer.
While in Paris, Lainey comes to expand upon her skills and kindles friendships which influence her thinking, and ultimately impact her future plans. She becomes close friends with Tracy and Julie Tait who enrich Lainey's professional and personal experiences while working at Tissu, Tracy's boutique.
Over the course of her months in Paris, Lainey finds love unexpectedly with a tall, dark, handsome, Parisian man who is Tracy's favorite model and known as the catch of Paris.
But what will happen to her fairy tale experience when tragedy strikes back home in the United States?
