Until he reached puberty. Strange wizards gifted him a few magical talents to rid Earth of parasitic visitors (the Others). Yeah, right. Boyd listened, took the talents, and then promptly forgot those fool wizards and (the Others). Instead, he drifted into the hero business.

When a small Mississippi delta town has been taken over by crooked cops, the good citizens were not getting Dr. Strange or Batman or the Equalizer, just Boyd Wright, armed with a few gimmicks and sarcasm.
