I recommend this book for many reasons to many people - The author tells REAL stories that we can relate to regarding life's struggles. Whether you are a single parent, a person who has suffered the passing of a loved one, career strife, or a person with a challenging childhood and family story, Athena shares the solutions she found as well as personal anctedotes and a beautiful sense of humor. Her stories help us to smile as we confront our own demons. The book discusses spirituality, and even touches on levels of faith and curiosity that help the reader to consider how thin the veil between our world and other worlds, even other species -might be.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Athena tells her own story - even the really hard parts. The music and audio quality are incredibly good. The audio gives one the feeling of a wonderful feature film where the visuals are filled in by the listener.

Which scene was your favorite?

I enjoy the way Athena and the characters play out the hypnosis sessions. I also love the way Athena discusses her mother and the journey regarding the relationship.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

This is a great book. I don't know if going through it in one sitting is a reality for most of us. There are 60 chapters and the listen is worth EVERY MINUTE -

This was a brave undertaking. This woman honestly shared the story of a childhood with parental alcoholism, of abuse, of struggle and common feelings of anger, resentment and fear. By sharing her story, Athena Demetrious gives the reader a sense that true healing and peace is possible in this lifetime.

What did you love best about The Seasoning of a Soul?

Written with authenticity, rawness, humility and extreme courage, this book will move to tears anyone who has ever sought the deeper meaning of life. Although this is Athena's personal story, I saw myself standing in her shoes many times throughout the book and felt my wounds heal as I listened about Athena's own healing. This is by far one of the most transformative books I have ever read. Thank you, Athena, for sharing your beautiful soul in such a meaningful and courageous way.

Inspirational, a journey to the heart

Demetrios tells her story beautifully as she brings the reader/listener into her life from childhood through adulthood. We witness her difficult childhood and feel the depths of the challenges she faced as a child and young mother yet, she shares her story to inspire and uplift, never does she portray herself as the victim. Demetrios is authentic and willing to be vulnerable which makes her story that much more compelling. Thank you Athena for your courage in sharing your story and being an inspiration to others who have experienced abuse and or hardships in their life. This audio book is read by Demetrios and is superb quality!

Yes. This is an extraordinary autobiographical story narrated by the author herself. If anyone every found her voice, she found hers.

The author's story of her husband's violence and cruelty, and her response to it, is unforgettable.

Which character – as performed by Athena Demetrios – was your favorite?

Athena herself is the most compelling character. You couldn't make this stuff up. The development of compassion and a life of service, forged by fire and degradation, is graphically described.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It made me both laugh and cry. If life is a continuum between the limits of human endurance and triumph, she has expanded that continuum into a whole other dimension.

I have worked professionally with Athena for many years, but had no idea prior to reading her book in 2010, that the dimensions of her life stretched so far and so wide. Her story is a thrilling, life affirming adventure of an extraordinarily courageous spiritual pioneer. A beautifully articulated and absorbing story, with the author's honesty and conviction breathed into every word.
