Excellent
This is well done and an interesting view of rural culture. But it seems dated given what has come to be mainstream today. I prefer Peter Temple’s writing on Australia. Check out any of Temple’s books if you liked the setting of this fine novel.

Terrifying and perfect
Suspenseful, makes you uncomfortable and then horrified. Good introduction to the brutality present in some rural areas among good ole boys.

Are Ya new to the Yabba?
Great novel, great reading, great bonus sections at the end! Humphrey Bower reads Cook's classic so well you will want to laugh and vomit.
