Resumen del Editor

Volinette Terris has everything most girls could want: a famous family, plenty of money, and a career as a talented musician. No one would expect her to risk losing it all to try and become a mage, but when the School of Sorcery opens for the Trial of Admission, that's exactly what she does.

If only she'd known that winning a place in the Academy of Arcane Arts and Sciences would be the least of her problems. Now she finds herself accused of murder, tormented by her fellow students, and implicated in the theft of a mystical artifact that could bring about the end of the world.

And that's just the first semester!

Another Solendrea Novel Leaves us Wanting More!

Any additional comments?

Volinette’s Song is a classic coming of age tale jam packed full of adventure. The narrative is fraught with parents who don’t understand their children, major life changes, the mean girl, the handsome guy pal, a brave heroine with untapped talent… AND a healthy dose of monsters and magic. Mr. Hengst once again takes us into the magical realm of Solendrea. Almost from the very start you want a share in Volinette’s wish to be granted admission into the Academy of Arcane Arts & Sciences. I was a little worried when I read she was a singer (I know, not surprising given the title) and was thinking there might be many songs sung within the novel. Thankfully, for me anyway, the songs are mostly described and the words of the song are not shared with the reader. That being said, the song that is sung is by a beautiful voice. Additionally, the narrator does a fairly good job with the different voices. Her inflection was very reminiscent of Carolyn McCormick and her performance of The Hunger Games trilogy. All in all, I enjoyed this book and look forward to the next novel set in Solendrea. Who knows, Mr. Hengst left the door wide open continue this story.

Amazing Narration

Any additional comments?

The narrator did a fantastic job. Her pacing was perfect, and her voice captured the energy and drive of the story while being crystal clear and warm at the same time. She really drew me into the story. The different voices she gave the characters when they were talking gave them distinct personalities that went well with their descriptions and actions. That made it easy to follow what was going on, but it was subtle enough to feel natural.
