Another exciting edition of this series

It is so fun to read a good mystery/thriller in which pyroclastic flows and lahars are part of the story! Good story and narration too.

Nonstop Excitement and Suspense

This is actually my first book of Toni Dwiggins, and I am HOOKED. I love that this series can be read in any order without feeling like you've lost something... because I haven't listened to the first two--but I will now, because holy guacamole, this was a good ride.

I'm not going to get into the plot too much. An important person dies and is found in a place they shouldn't be considering the condition of the body. Now it's up to the forensics teams to figure it out, and since she was found in the snow, near a volcano that's edging toward eruption, that means a geology team is part of the crew. You don't have to know or love rocks to love this story. Dwiggins does a great job of explaining the methods without it being boring, and it's actually fascinating. A lot of research and love when into this story and it's obvious. The mystery is very compelling and it keeps you gripped because you think you know who it is, and then you aren't so sure, and then you're REALLY sure, but something else happens and you second guess it again. It's like that through the whole thing. And then the Volcano starts to come into play and things get REAL crazy. There are bears, avalanches, quakes, explosions, and so much more. It's a harrowing climax that goes on for half the book, until you aren't sure you'll even come down from the high of it. The volcano is such an excellent backdrop for the story that is taking place. This book is incredibly well thought out and has had so much love and intention poured into it, I can't wait to read more of Dwiggins' work.

The narration was heartfelt and intense. I was there with the characters every step of the heart pounding way. Nellie Scott did a beautiful job of giving each character their own voice and attitude and lending the right amount of emotion into every scene to keep me gripped. I also just love her voice, it's very soothing. Which is nice in a story that kept me so on the edge of my seat lol

Thrilling and Exciting!

This one is amazing! I am Loving this story! Volcanoes are intriguing to me since I don't live near them. I have never had to be aware of what can happen and what the public needs to do. This story involves a suspenful thrilling plot. I loved learning about all the volcano and what it can do but also following along with a murder and trying to figure out the whys of that. This really held my interest and kept me going more so near the end when everything gets C-R-A-Z-Y!

This is a well crafted book that I struggled to figure out the “who done it” factor. So that makes me love it all the more!! I am so glad I grabbed this one!

I listen to this on audio. The narration is done by Nelly Scott. She does a great job and really helped. Keep me invested.

okay this book was interesting, I thought I new who the muder but it wasn't who I thought . there are so many people who could have done it. but you will be at the edge of your seat trying to figure it out. this was a really good book I enjoyed every bit of it. it's a good mystery.

Put on your seatbelt for a thrilling ride!

This is one of those 'can't put it down' stories. Do not start in the evening because you will be listening all night! This author is a master of telling an exciting, action-packed story. Additionally, the main character, Cassie, is a highly analytical scientist who takes in data, analyzes it, and using her insight, helps solve crimes. A Sherlock Holmes-type character with her own quirks. Unlike Sherlock Holmes, Cassie is a caring person about the people around her, and not just her science. This makes her a very multidimensional MC. What is more interesting is that she is a geologist who uses geology to solve mysteries. The author does a fantastic job of making geology an engaging science. Her partner-in-crime, Walter, is a good foil for her theories and her stable rock, a friend/father figure. Listen to this story and you will learn awe-inspiring aspects of volcanoes. This book is a real nail-biter. You never know what will happen next. I'm not going to be a spoiler, so I will leave it there. What is especially wonderful is that this author is a master of word pictures. She puts you there, in the middle of active volcanic events. And yes, there is more than one!

The narrator is exceptional. Her voice makes Cassie real. She is very easy to listen to and helps you get into the story.
