Engaging story, but the narrator's phrasing is often poor. She frequently pauses between phrases that ought to be continuous, which can interfere with immediate comprehension. Here's an example showing the pacing of the start of a sentence. "Yet if the poor didn't collect the garbage. Dropped from above. ....."

She also had a tendency to emphasize prepositions, which can be disconcerting. A reader should almost never emphasized prepositions, because people don't speak that way.
