Virgil Holt was the undersheriff for Sheldon County when its sheriff, Jacob Hayes, was revealed to be corrupt. Upon Hayes’s arrest, Virgil was forced to take over a department that was divided in its loyalties, half the deputies still committed to the corruption Hayes had poisoned them with. With Finley McHale, Hayes’s right-hand man, campaigning against Virgil for the position of sheriff, those divided loyalties have grown stronger and more dangerous. To this end, he’s brought in someone he can trust to protect the innocent men and women of Black Dog Security, to keep them from being harassed any further by McHale and his minions. A local murder and rumors of mobsters taking over a local strip club complicate things in ways Virgil couldn’t have predicted.
