Resumen del Editor

Trapped. Aker is playing a fully immersive virtual reality video game, called VampQuest, but he can’t quit and doesn’t remember his real life.

He starts to raise level and enjoy the perks of being a vampire in a game-world mostly full of humans when a rival guild attacks. The battle leaves Aker bitter and bent on revenge. He completes many missions that take him far from his guild’s base but vows to return and bring peace when he is strong enough.

Can Aker defeat his enemies? Will he ever escape from VampQuest?

Some interesting ideas but the narration and novice writing killed it

This was one of the few audio books I had to force myself to get through near the end. The writing is pretty mediocre, but I’m used to that I’m this genre. The narration however made it 10x worse. The performance audio was poor and sounded like someone doing it from their kitchen. The female voice reading a male POV was hard to deal with, their was little variation in character voices and worst of all their was zero emotion in the voice. A text to speech could have done the same job. I might pick up future releases if the narrator changes, else I will have to ignore.

Not good

Choppy, bad writing. The narration was terrible, not so much her voice, although see sounded rushed or nervous, but the production. It sounded like they recorded this one from a phone booth from around the block. I feel like the author wanted to write a vampire novella but also wanted to jump on yhe litrp train as well. Great premise, poor preformance. Would recommend to teenage girls. Not for Litrpg fans

Not terrible

I think I just had issue with the narration. I like the idea of an update to a game that a new player has to adapt to but it was just hard to get through the narration. I really think I would have enjoyed it more if I read it instead of listened. Character progression is decent. I want more vamp lore rather than just having vamp characters. All in all it was ok for a 5 hour listen. Hopefully the next one is better.

decent beginnings

The story is a bit superficial and makes most of the characters not the most likable , the narration is good for the most part but feels like a bit too much of a drawl when speaking. This novel does pay attention to interesting details that really let you imagine the scenes.

A new game ported on top of an old one

So there is a game already being played by most people in the world. Now there is a new game!Being ported in on top of it. Vamp quest. This game introduces vampires into the VR world. Our hero doesn’t know who he is or how he got here but found himself turned from human into vampire moments after entering the game. Trying to right the wrongs being wrought by some real jerks of players (as vamps) he finds himself trying to lower level and make allies to defeat them. The leveling system is unique. One must complete quests to level up. Not experience based. Pretty cool LITRPG. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator or publisher

Engaging Gamelit Story

Aker wakes up in a virtual reality video game and doesn't remember who he is, or anything about his prior life. He is attacked and made into a vampire in a game that really shouldn't have vampires. Adison Runberg, the author, immerses the reader in Aker's struggle as he tries to right the inequality the vampires bring to a game that renders the regular players egregiously vulnerable in every way. He must balance his own vampire guild's needs along the way, leaving him conflicted in the fast-paced, intriguing novel, VampQuest.

Disturbing revelations at the end of the book answer many questions and create many new ones, leaving the reader with questions about the ethics of virtualy gaming itself, and hoping for a sequel to find out what Aker does about them.

The narrator, Elise Swofford, did an excellent job bringing the characters to life with her skilled voice acting ability.

I highly recommend this story to young adult readers.

Funny

Once Aker became a vampire this book was off to the races. Although the book is a little short, it kept me interested and had a lot of twists and turns. The narrator had some really cool voices, and the book had me laughing at many parts. May listen again in the future!

Just what my kids needed!

I've got a 13 year old and 14 year old, I got this for them because they have been loving LitRPG lately, and they also like vampire stories. They listened to it all in two days, and have been talking about it non stop. I hope to hear more from the author and narrator!
