We live in a time of unprecedented upheaval, when technology and so-called progress have made us richer but more uncertain than ever before. We have questions about the future, society, work, happiness, family and money, and yet no political party of the right or left is providing us with answers. So, too, does the time seem to be coming to an end when we looked to economists to help us define the qualities necessary to create a successful society.

We need a new movement. One defined by a young historian who can tell us the truth about how we got here. Great book, why not the author though?

This book is fantastic and is full of inspiring ideas and impetus for meaningful change in the world.

Bregman is great at collating these ideas that are quite old and showing how needed they still are.

Knowing Bregman's work a little, I would have liked to have had him read the audio. The reader is great, don't get me wrong. I just feel that there's certain subtle things that having the man who wrote the book voicing it would benefit from. Do download though, it's great!

Historic

Revolutionary, revealing... This should be in top 10 reads for humanity. The ideas are so sane they are crazy and so humanity will reject it.

Inspiring

Inspiring message, well written and read. I never knew that there was so much empirical evidence for the effectiveness of direct cash transfers and basic income. The Richard Nixon episode was especially captivating.

Wow

Its very clear in its ideas. Very hopeful, inspiring, feel good. Thanks for writing it, thanks for dreaming like me. This world is full of utopians like us.

A definite must-read

I really enjoyed this book. It speaks to all the major issues we face today, and gives some seemingly simple and logical solutions to these issues. A definite must-read.
