Resumen del Editor

In this instantly absorbing and thrilling series, best-selling author Chris Pike delivers another suspenseful and pulse-pounding adventure in the fourth installment of the EMP Survivor series.

Nico Bell has been working undercover in San Antonio for over a year, trying to infiltrate a dangerous gang, led by the mysterious Santiago. Desperate for a meeting with Santiago, Nico agrees to be a courier to pick up and deliver a package. It should have been easy, but easy isn't in Nico's vocabulary. EMP isn't in his vocabulary either, but it soon will be.

Kate Chandler, who requires a service dog, desperately wants to forget her past. She works as a bartender at a historical hotel next to the Alamo in San Antonio. Young and tough, she uses the bar as a barrier, so nobody will ever get close to her again. There's a problem, though. Nico, who has been staying at the hotel, has seen through the ruse. He makes a promise to her he intends to keep, that is, until the EMP interrupts his well-thought out plans.

A story filled with bravery and incredible courage, Unwanted World is a stunningly unique take on the chaos and the unraveling of society caused by the EMP. An epic tale with a twist on history, and one with fascinating characters and electrifying intrigue, proves once more - author Chris Pike is the one to watch.

This author likes dogs

This author overly personifies the dogs in this series. It helps to provide details, but sometimes the intelligence he attributes to them is a bit much. Rated 5 stars so obviously not an issue, but I feel for the cat lovers...

A Great One-Off Story

4.5 out of 5 stars

While reading this I kept thinking to myself, “is this related to the other books in the series?”. I know that it takes place at the same time, but I wasn’t sure if there was a reason that Pike went on a side-track for this story, but I am glad that she did.

The characters in this were interesting and honestly, I think I liked them as much as the other characters in the first three books. I found them instantly compelling and I wanted to know what was going to happen to them.

Having the story take place at the Alamo was a nice touch. Throwing history into the book, especially for people who were fighting to stay alive and having what some would call a “last stand” was great in my opinion.

Pike knows what she’s talking about and includes a lot of little tidbits in here that sprinkle in real-life knowledge with fictional stories about fictional people. It’s nice to learn something while being entertained.

The dynamic between Nico and Kate was a very memorable one. They had this different kind of connection. It wasn’t instant like most books (sure it was over a week or so), but some Post-Apocalyptic books seem to follow the theme of, it’s the end of the world… oh, you’re pretty, let’s make babies! But, this felt more real. It felt like Nico waited and tried his hardest to win over Kate and her service dog.

The inclusion of a service dog (for a mostly undisclosed reason) was really interesting to me too. Kate needed help calming down and not going over the edge into a panic attack and I thought that it was a really unique use of a dog in a PA book.

Overall, Pike hit another home run with this book, and I’m definitely glad that I read it.

I was given a free copy of this book which has not affected my review in any way.

Love this book

This is my favorite book in the series so far. I relate to Kate in many ways, and therefore, feel a connection with her as a character. I love her dog Reload. I love the way Chris Pike gives voice to the thoughts of the main dogs in the series and the ways they experience the world. I enjoyed the suspense and mystery added to the action, and while there is a romantic piece to it, it doesn’t take over the whole story.

I love listening to Kevin Pierce narrate. He does such a great job with helping us distinguish characters, and he has a melodic quality to his voice that keeps my attention.

Really enjoying this series!

I love how all the books are connected but have their own stories. The characters are unique, and real. I also love how the author incorporates the dogs in the all the books. Narriator is very good and belivable. I am sad that the next book will be the last.

Action Packed

This is an action packed novel that has the build up of a fantastic ending to what has been an exciting series. I can not wait for the fifth and final book.

I like this one more than the other in the series

There's excitement and drama, but this book isn't quite as brutal as the others in the series. I like all of the characters, each one is from very different backgrounds. I like the family dynamics as it portrays a "real" family. There's more different problems than I've found in most survivalist books. For example: the tarantula migration....who woulda thunk?

Just wish the story was longer!

So this is book 4 out of five I like the first three better but that’s just because there was more character development from the books before, Chris Pike is a young talented writer for this genre. It is post apocalyptic but all the books basically focus on a villain and a good guy, they have often love stories as well which he fits in very well. I have close to 70 post apocalyptic books as that is all I listen to. Kevin Pierce as a narrator is by far! The best narrator in this genre. He can make a decent book a very good book he keeps your attention throughout. We all know with an EMP cars don’t start playing for the sky and cell phones don’t work people seem to adapt too easily to the hardships of what life would be like without electricity. There’s a lot of adventure and traveling. I would like to see more focus on the prepping aspect and bring to life the hardships that come along with no modern technology. The importance of hospitals modern science medication the things we are all used to having at our fingertips and people who have truly prepared or know how to survive and acquire the resources they need to survive. Overall the book is fun mostly PG 13 post apocalyptic fiction. There are a lot more books out there that I feel have a more realistic view of what the world would be like but it did not stop me from enjoying all four books so far it would be nice if he incorporated the first two books as part one and then the second two as part two the credits aren’t cheap so it’s disappointing when you finish a book in one workday It’s a good change of pace in the genre and I found it keeping my attention Kevin Pierce is truly a master of bringing things to life.
