Eine tief berührende Geschichte von der Zeit des zweiten Weltkriegs. Der Hauptheld Pino wird als ein echter HELD dargestellt, der eine starke Persönlichkeit hatte und in erster Linie seinen Prinzipien unter allen Umständen treu war.

Seldom such a brilliant audio book performance!
The narrative of this piece of history had me longing to listen asap again. From the beginning to the end i can highly recommend this book. The mixture of personal emotional, historical, political, religious, Italian and German context was wonderfully married into the whole narrative. Frank Arnold's performance transported me personally to that moment, at that place in time, emotionally involved to the point that I had to take a break from listening even though hesitantly so.
His reading style is captivating, exhilarating and perfectly timed with appropriate minute breaks where they belong.
Listening to the very end I had a hard time swallowing the tears at finding out the actual whereabouts and futures of the characters.
This re telling of just a few war veterans should be required reading in every class room in the higher grades of high school.
so much to learn.
