A great breakdown of artificial intelligence for those without a technical background. It covers key ideas like machine learning and neural networks without getting too deep into jargon or theory. I really enjoyed how it connected concepts to everyday uses in healthcare, marketing, and business, particularly since I work in healthcare. The explanations are simple and to the point, with examples that help you understand how AI is already shaping different industries. It’s not overwhelming or overly complicated, and it’s a great read for anyone curious about AI who doesn’t want to wade through textbooks or tech-heavy material.

I began exploring AI more seriously in 2023 while teaching AP computer science to continuation students. My journey with computers goes back to 1972 at the Naval Academy, which was long before personal computers were even a thing. Since then, I’ve used technology to support learning, but AI opened a whole new world.

A Fantastic Intro to AI

As someone juggling a busy schedule while running an online publishing business, this book was exactly what I needed. I’ve dabbled in AI before, but this book really helped demystify the fundamentals, especially the section on deep learning, which had always felt a bit intimidating. The author breaks things down in a way that’s approachable and surprisingly relevant to real-world business needs. I especially appreciated the tips and hacks for learning AI efficiently, even when your calendar is packed. This is a fantastic intro for anyone curious about AI but unsure where to start.

Interesting and easy to integrate

I liked the info and ease of introduction to the world of ai. The narrator though was talking a bit too slow and articulated each words intensely which seemed a bit unnatural. But it didn’t take away from the quality of the book itself, thankfully you can speed up the narration a bit

I have been using AI a bit via Chatgpt, but we all know there is so much more it can be used for. In searching for a book, I came across this book by R.D Boyd. I am pleased to say that it was a terrific starting point for me to begin learning the different AI applications and possibilities. I was worried that I would be overwhelmed, but was happily pleased with the pace and style of learning. If you want to "get your feet wet" and learn about AI, I can't recommend this book enough.
