International bestseller!

In her groundbreaking debut essay collection, actress Lily Collins—Golden Globe-nominated star of Rules Don’t Apply, Mortal Instruments, and To the Bone—is opening a poignant, honest conversation about the things young women struggle with: body image, self-confidence, relationships, family, dating, and so much more.

Lily shares her life and her own deepest secrets, underlining that every single one of us experiences pain and heartbreak. We all understand what it’s like to live in the light and in the dark. For Lily, it’s about making it through to the other side, where you love what you see in the mirror and where you embrace yourself just as you are. She's learned that all it takes is one person standing up and saying something for everyone else to realize they’re not alone.

By turns hilarious and heartbreaking, Lily’s honest voice will inspire you to be who you are and say what you feel. It’s time to claim your voice! It’s time to live your life unfiltered.

As a young woman who is around the same age as Lily Collins, I was expecting to hear a coming of age story closer to my demographic. This is mostly geared towards themes for an adolescent, and I feel if it had been advertised as a young adults book, the reviews would be more positive. The themes that Lily shares are important to her I am sure but they are a bit elementary, feel like they came right out of a diary.

Wanted to Love it, For a Preteen Audience

I bought this impulsively. I am a fan of her work and love her show Emily in Paris. She actually had more of that character in her than I thought she would. Overall, while she has gone through some stuff and clearly overcome it, she’s probably too young to write a memoir. A light listen and may be good for young girls, but at the same time her life is not that relatable to an average gal going through stuff. Her acknowledgments were practically a chapter in itself and I found that weird. Her Reid was definitely personal, sometimes cute and entertaining. However, there was a recurring theme of therapy, speak and alluding to bad relationships that she only skimmed the surface on.

Confident and quirky with lots of therapy speak

I love Lily Collins above and beyond and I wanted to know her for who she truly is and somehow be her friend. And thank to this book, I kind of knew a part of her and this book became a friend to me.

I've read comments where they say that the contents of this book seemed to have been written by a 13 -year-old because of it's "basic" idea, and though it might be true, we should also take in consideration how hard it is and how brave she is to simply put herself out here to express her feelings and lessons she learned.

One more thing, life is full of complicated problematic situations. We are bound to meet them one way or another. We might experience them differently, but remember this, we don't have to complicate the solutions in order to solve the problems. Lily Collins wrote a book to remind us of that.

and just like what I always tell my students and friends, "you don't always have to be the best to be a good person."
this motto of mine is quite like Lily's statement in her book, a little act of kindness goes a long way no matter how stupid it might seem.

much grace, Lily! You're the best!

When things get complicated, go back to the basics

I thought there would be more content about her relationship with her father. Instead, the first chapter was on her eyebrows. It’s a “feel good about yourself” kind of book. Not much depth but if you’re between the ages of 16-24 you might get something from this book that you’ve never heard before. But then again, maybe not.

You probably won’t like this if you’re over 24

Es una historia muy real y biográfica de la actriz. Que el relato lo haga ella directamente le da un plus a la narración.

A good biography
