Resumen del Editor

According to statistics reported by CDC in 2020, one in 54 children in the USA were diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in 2016.

It is suggested that boys are four times more likely to get a diagnosis of autism than girls. Autism does not discriminate; it affects all ethnicities and socio-economic groups. Getting the diagnosis and intervention early is better, however, unfortunately, this does not happen for all families.

Speech and language are highly complex learning areas that we take for granted. This is especially difficult if your child has more complex needs. If you have received a recent autism diagnosis, your mind is probably full of questions, you have likely been looking for answers on the internet. If this sounds like you, then you will have noticed hundreds of different sites offering information that is too complex and lengthy for light bedtime reading, which is probably the only time you’ll have to read without being distracted by what your child is doing.

From the point of view of an experienced professional and a parent, we are going to look at all the different areas of development but with children with ASD. I have put together all the information you need for now, as it is easy to understand and absorb. This is the first book in this series. The other books will focus on all the different areas of difficulties.

In this book:

  • Learn about the ASD diagnosis process
  • Learn to create routines that you and your child can easily manage
  • Discover simple ways to help your child develop their early interaction skills
  • Tips and tricks to manage your child’s anxiety
  • Learn about different types of speech/play therapy you can do at home

The next book is on potty training and mastering personal care skills. There will be books focusing on speech and language development, and much more, so look out for those.

Listen Twice, Apply Once

This could be titled, "The Survival Guide to Raising an Autistic Child". Who knew years ago that the number of cases would rise at such a pace as we have today. This audiobook is great for building layers of understanding. This gives us fuel to go the distance that caring for someone with Autism requires. We may think mostly of children but as the Author discusses, we must also consider the adult with Autism. This is a well planned book that gives enough help but was not overwhelming. I am glad to have listened!

Heaven Sent Book

Wow... where to begin with this book? First of all I love the uplifting narrative carried throughout the book.It really reinforces that those on the spectrum are not outliers, only different and need their own tools to get around though life. Additionally, I love the easy to follow tips given throughout the book. I feel like anyone needing a book like this can easily implement suggestions into their own/ their own kids routines. Finally, I LOVE the success stories!

INSPIRING & ENLIGHTENING

This book is a wonderful & comprehensive guide into the uncommonly known world of Autism.
Author successfully delivers pertinent information in a manner that is both real & compassionate.
Reader will be introduced to the various symptoms of ASD as well as to the many types of diagnostic, speech & behavioral therapies available. Needed Light is shed on the ASD child’s “sensory challenges” & how to adapt lifestyle & home environment to manage these challenges.
More importantly, this book enlightens & empowers parents with valuable knowledge & resources to support the development of their child into a productive, fulfilled adult.
An invaluable ASD guidebook.
Very well done.

It is a good guide to introduce you to the signs you need to look for that point you in the direction you need to focus on your child's next developmental stage. There are several useful tips that are easily implemented into a daily routine for someone with an autistic child. Loved the straightforward information presentation as well as the smooth delivery by the narrator. Thanks!

Extremely helpful!

I take care of my nephew every Saturday that has Autism, and I have really struggled with it. I didn't understand Autism and was very naive about taking care of him. This book has been soooo helpful. I have implemented a Saturday routine and know what to do when he gets anxious and difficult. I am now able to enjoy our days together.

Very informative!

I know some people with ASD children. Prior to listening to this book, I know very little about the topic. This book contains useful information to learn more about ASD and how to be a better parent for children with the condition. I didn't realize how diverse the condition can manifest itself and that women are less diagnosed with ASD. I learned how to do proper play therapy, mitigate light/sound sensitivity, and establishing a routine. My favorite part of this book is when the author unscored the importance of self-care for parents of an autistic child and proposed a thoughtful question of how can you expect to take care of your little one and family if you are not well yourself? I think it's very important that parents take a moment and pause to take care of their own mental and physical needs, because the world would be a better place if you show up as a better you,
