Resumen del Editor

As an English major and the editor of the Literary Magazine at Denberg University, I'm fully focused on school. Struggling with being the utter disappointment of my parents - who happen to be two amazing academics - I'm doing my best to prove myself. Stranded on campus with nowhere to go this holiday season, I'm determined to stay on task.

But then, Maven Stone calls my name, and everything changes....

Suddenly, I'm on a whirlwind vacation with Maven and his two fraternity brothers, Chance Montgomery and Banyan Iburgess, chasing dreams I never knew I had.

I'm Giovanna Amsel, and this is the first part of our unconventional love story.

Just okay

The whole story was just okay. Nothing intrigued me into continuing to book 2. The narrator was good but this audio book really needed a male narrator also

Good series

I love the story. I just wish there was a male narrator as well. The female narrator is fine. It is just a personal preference of mine.

I really enjoyed this one

Looking forward to reading the rest of the series! I was not expecting the book to end as suddenly as it did and am *needing* to know the rest. :D

Actress is fantastic

Jessica Hazard represents Vonni so well. I love all three of these novels and was a little worried about listening to it on Audible but my first thought was how perfect she sounded. She also narrates the other characters fantastically but she really sounds exactly like Vonni is supposed to. She also manages to make the sex scenes completely normal and non-cringeworthy.

The narrator...

The narrator killed this audio version. Just monotone and stilted. I have a kindle copy and at all me point I read along with the narration and miss Jessica pauses (or breathed) in all the wrong places. Maybe she was trying to portray some as Asperger type tendencies in relation to her dyslexia?? I don’t know but it was distracting and in the end I read the hard copy.
I also think this ended very abruptly, there’s no angst, no problem between the characters, no big incident or twist. One day they are in a helicopter then we are done till the next book... huh??
I won’t be getting the next one on audible!

It's All About the Inflection

This is a great, clever, mediumish -burn RH, with nicely developed characters and focus. But that all eventually became completely fogged up by this narrator's kindergarten -level narration. Great voice, but her grade school-like cadence went from noticeable to intolerable. Every sentence is this weird random pause and lift in the sentences. Like this: "...and I would like?...to go to the store." I'm not sure if William Shatner has a school for acting, but if he does, Jessica Hazard graduated with honors.

It makes me wonder why authors choose these not-great narrators to screw up the delivery of what they've spent so long creating. Do they not care how the audio version is received? Is it all about the moolah? Is there a "2 for $10" bargain bin at the check out aisle of the Narrators R Us store?

I give the story five stars. Unfortunately, I'm not reviewing the book version. I'm rating the Audible one. And that was a bad decision.

Id love to continue this story, but if Jessica Hazard is doing the narration, I'll opt for the book...a first for me.

Another silly story

The female is just rigid, boring and nerdy yet entirely lax and loose sexually. The supposed hottest frat guys on campus one by one are inexplicably instantly enamored with her (they’re also so bland it’s hard to tell the guys apart). There’s a cold emotionally vacant feeling throughout, mixed with routine, emotionally empty, unsexy sex scenes with each guy that are all devoid of feeling and nearly identical to one another—but she gets off every single time of course because that’s realistic (it isn’t) The guys all give every thought and concern they have in life to the girl as she blathers inwardly about not wanting to ‘put them out’ but freeloads every second of the story. There’s also many idiotic and pointless references to wealth (attempting to make the female character ‘humble and relatable’ in contrast to the obligatorily cliché wealthy guys yet she talks about grooming up having a home but not living there because they traveled so much—not a lower or even middle class problem to afford a house and also additional living accommodations to suit the jet setting Ivy League professors academia life she comes from. Her parents are supposedly in pursuit of the North Sentinel Islanders who are well known in real life to be hostile and highly deadly yet the author sticks it into the character’s background like it’s just an entertaining and plausible character outline. It’s just another completely stupid book in a long line of completely stupid books. I should just stick with Vi Keeland who knows how to pen a fun story that’s not stupid and absurd.
