Great historical review with fun facts about our countries leaders!

This book had a very helpful and comprehensive review of how we became a country and created our democratic political system. It is a nice refresher of what we fought for in order to have such a beautiful country as we moved from a monarchy to a democracy.

I enjoyed the history review that was then followed by fun facts after each president to give context but also to provide more of a narrative and story instead of simply listing facts.

There is a bit of irony in having a narrator with a strong accent that is commonly paired with someone who wasn’t born and raised here but I enjoyed it and felt that it kept me engaged more as a listener.

I picked this up after realizing I had some embarrassing gaps in my presidential knowledge (couldn't remember who came between Polk and Pierce to save my life), and it turned out to be exactly what I needed. The author manages to strike this perfect balance between being informative and genuinely entertaining - I actually found myself laughing out loud at some of the descriptions, especially the bit about Taft getting stuck in the bathtub. What really works here is that it doesn't read like a dry textbook; instead, each president gets a personality beyond just their policies and dates in office.
