Great depth great narration solid story line
I have read hundreds of accounts of the Second World War and this ranks as one of the best series I have every read or listened to during my quest to understand what truly occurred during this period in American History.

Ian Toll is a History God
Six Frigates remains my favorite Ian Toll book, but what can one say when a man with Ian Toll's talent for research, storytelling and detail, dedicates a large portion of his life to tell this story? Throughout the book I must have thought 100 times, "How much did Toll have to read in order to write this?" I recommend reading this with a map nearby, a large and detailed map. Tremendous work!

Book deserves a better narration.
This was a remarkably well researched and well written book, and a fitting conclusion to the author’s trilogy about the Pacific War. However, I found it a disappointing performance to say the least. The reader uses the same monotonous cadence for virtually every sentence from Introduction through Epilogue. There is little life or emotion, just a grinding-it-out job of reading the words on the page. The book is poorly served by this.

This has been my second time through this Trilogy and it gets better the second time. Mr Toll has provided the reader with a gift profound in its scope and wise in its telling. Gift yourself prospective reader and make the journey.

Great ending to the trilogy
Having now finished the 3rd installment on this series on WW2 in the pacific I can say that this is by far the best series I have ever read/ listened too.
