Ronald Walker arrived in Tucson in 1976 as a young man to make his life. His experiences tell the story of what Tucson was really like during the late 20th Century, and the struggles and challenges he had working mundane and menial jobs, then returning to college, and finally achieving a fascinating career in broadcast television.
His stories include his attempts at finding places to live, making friends, finding love, and then eventually creating a decent and honorable life after so many ordeals and hardships. He describes in detail what it was like to explore the vibrant and energetic Tucson music scene first hand, not only as an audience member but by playing in his own Rock bands as well. His efforts at being an actor, his experiences with beekeeping, and the time he spent as an inmate with the Arizona Department of Corrections are all unique events that helped to change him from a clueless and naïve young man into a wiser and well-rounded older gentleman.
He takes the reader along with him on adventures to some of the most interesting and exciting places in Mexico, including the entire Baja California peninsula and the West Coast of Mexico. He explores Rocky Point and the entire coastline of Sonora in great detail, as well as his experiences traveling to Hawaii and Alaska.
His sincerity, humor, and openness about his adventures and experiences leave the reader with a deeper knowledge of the places and times he explains so well and in such great detail. Anyone with a love or an interest in the Tucson area will find these stories an excellent source for understanding more about the fascinating place that is Tucson, Arizona, the Old Pueblo.
