(Based on a true story from my life. Names have been changed, but truthfully almost all of them are dead now so it doesn't matter.)

The feeling of being thrown from the car, the jarring impact, the dizzying disorientation – these were moments etched indelibly into my memory. The world seemed to spin wildly, colors blurring, sounds distorting, creating a distorted kaleidoscope of sensations. It felt as though time itself had stopped, suspended in a moment of pure terror.
I remembered fighting back, scrambling, kicking, scratching, doing everything in my power to escape. I had fought with a ferocity I hadn't previously acknowledged, a primal instinct for survival that had taken over. It was a messy, chaotic fight, fueled by adrenaline and terror, but a fight nonetheless. It wasn't a heroic tale, but it was my tale, a story of resistance, of a refusal to surrender. It wasn't about winning or losing; it was about surviving.
But then, the faint sound of sirens, piercing the darkness, offered a flicker of hope. The rhythmic pulse of the emergency vehicles, growing louder and closer, served as a beacon of rescue, a promise of escape.
