A novella that gives us the love of best friends in an unexpected setting!

Liam has had a heartbreak from a 5 year relationship when he realizes he had scheduled an anniversary cruise. Not wanting to vacation alone, he chooses to invite his very best friend, Trick.

Duckie Mack creates a lovely soft and steamy opposites attract, best friends to lovers MM romance.

Audiobook: Kevin Earlywine narrates the characters of Liam and Trick and it was a low angst telling of free spirited Trick, whose sweet personality helps to bring out the responsible side of veterinarian Liam. It is wonderful to listen to these two come to terms with their true feelings for each other.

Liam and Trick

I loved Liam and Trick, (AKA Patrick) so much. This is one of my favorite friends-to-lovers stories well written by one of my many favorite authors. The audiobook is great too, with a new-to-me narrator. One of my favorite scenes was where Liam and Trick were at that animal sanctuary and got to hold a sloth.

Blown away by this narration!

Performance: Tricked at Sea is narrated by Kevin Earlywine. I’ve listened to quite a few books narrated by him and Tricked may just be my favorite. I really feel like he brought Liam and Trick to life. I listened while I ran my errands and I really just sank back into the story. I really feel like this novella is an audiobook that I will listen to over and over again.

Story:
I should probably start by saying, I ❤️ Tricked at Sea!! I laughed, I cried, and I sighed with happiness. Let’s be honest when you start with a broken heart, you can only go UP and boy did Liam go up. Trick took him by the hand and told him things would get better and then showed him how much better they could get. Trick had such a vulnerable moment in the story and listening to Kevin voice it I was blown away. Until this audio version, I always felt like the story was about Liam, his broken heart and his unrequited crush on Trick. This audiobook flipped that completely for me and the story became about Trick and his kindness and love for his best friend. It became about Trick’s own unrequited crush on Li-Li and how far he was willing to go to show Liam that his heart was in good hands with Trick. This novella truly is for all the best friends turned lovers out there. Best friends really do make the best partners!!

Great Friends to Lovers

Fun short friends to lovers story with great narration by Kevin. Really cute story of finding love when you least expect it.

Second time was as good as the first

I originally read this book when it was included in the Cruising Anthology. Trick and Liam made such a great pair. I'm a cat and dog lover so Liam's clothing choices were spot on. And when Trick was holding the sloth, it was epic. Slots are right after koala bears for me. This is the first time I listened to a book, when I listened to some samples the sound drab/boring. But this book I enjoyed. Some of the scenes had me laughing so hard because I forgot them. I really enjoyed Kevin's voice and the different feelings I heard in it. Another great book by Duckie Mack. I hope you enjoy it just as much as I did.

Short and entertaining

What a cute little novella. The book starts with one MC breaking up with his long term boyfriend. There’s no details or time wasted going over the shitty parts thankfully, as this is only 92 pages. Instead it focuses on Trick and Liam’s friendship. They go on a cruise together, and cuteness, revelations of feelings and spice ensues. It’s wholesome and sweet, and they get a really good HEA together.

It’s not a secret that it’s hard making a connection with characters in such a short amount of time, but I managed to get to the point where I cared about their future, and I wanted them to get together. If you need a short and cute read, this is perfect for it. The setting (cruise ship) adds a little vacay-vibe to it as well. Not that you’d catch me on a boat, lol. The ocean is terrifying.

This was the first time for me listening to this narrator, and although he did a good job, it was sometimes difficult distinguishing between Trick and Liam when they were speaking, as they were voiced quite similarly. Other than that, it was well done.

Loved it!

Minimal angst. Short, sweet, excellent character development and relationship development. Flawless narration. Very highly recommend!
