Incredible 10/10

Absolutely incredible book. EVERYONE needs to listen to or read this book. I’ve been on my healing path for 12 years and reading this book now has assisted me leaps and bounds. For those who haven’t suffered from abuse it will educate you on behaviors of friends and loved ones who have and who haven’t been able to ask for help themselves.

Courage to tell your story & help educate other people about the sexual abuse that happens to children.

It’s hard to put into words how reading your memoir made me feel. So many emotions! Feeling of sadness, anger, feelings of my own pain all flooded my body. I want to hug you & be your friend.
Most of all though I feel your great strength, courage & vulnerability. Being vulnerable is something that most people have a hard time doing. You are brave & you are worthy of love. I respect you. Thank you for sharing. Sending my love.

Good reminder what some go through - Nathan is bold and brave

Raw, honest, heartbreaking at times. Good storyteller as you felt like you were walking the journey with him. It was a brave story to tell that will benefit so many survivors of sexual abuse. To those that have gone through similar experiences- be strong. There are so many people with you. Take courage and talk to someone. God bless Nathan.

Haunting, Raw & Powerful--a must read

As an avid reader, I do not shy away from a good memoir, but I did not expect to feel so much when listening to Nathan's words. It was gripping and powerful much like Gornick's Fierce Attachments and harrowing like Mississippi Sissy by Sessums. I had to put it away and catch my breath---to get through the violent abuse he describes without getting too overwhelmed. His narrative was filled with detailed memories of his family, siblings, friends. He takes the reader right back to his childhood with details of the era. He reminds you that this is an 8 year old being ripped away from any normalcy forever---being groomed and mind fu**ed--which to me is the most damaging. It was so honest and real. And the message---the triumph---so powerful and definitely worth the emotional rollercoaster. Thank you, Nathan!

Gripping story

Intense and traumatic read. Very insightful plight of a boy trying to grow to a man after surviving repeated sexual assault and brainwashing. Eye opening and well written.

one of the most impactful books ever read

one of the most impactful books I have ever read. still in tears but the the tears that started because of feeling such great sadness for abused children turned to tears of gratitude at the bravery of the author for sharing his story and be willing to help others heal. he mentioned that "hurt people.. hurt people " but I have also heard that "healed people heal people " and that is exactly what Nathan is doing with his life. there are many things one can accomplish and be proud of in their life but I can't think of anything as important as bringing awareness to help save children and adults from the devastating effects of sexual abuse.
