Instructive and Entertaining

I was introduced to her and enjoyed her in her role in the TV series Taxi and have seen her in a few shows and small movie parts since then.

Years later I learned of her unique memory gift.

She was a consultant on the TV series Unforgettable which sadly ended after a year or two. That show's main character, Poppy Montgomery, played a part as a detective who had a memory gift like the author's.

I lean heavily toward audio books narrated by the author and this one is great.

A little repetitive, but worthwhile and fun

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, very interesting story with a few helpful tips. Was kind of surprised about the health tips at the end, but they actually made a lot of sense.

Unusual subject matter makes this one unique (in a good way!)

What does Marilu Henner bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Loved that she narrated it herself. It;s the primary reason I bought it. What an amazing life she had had!

What did you learn from Total Memory Makeover that you would use in your daily life?

Anticipate, participate, recollect. She covers this throughout the book

Any additional comments?

Fun and interesting and I came away with some good tips. Some of the activities (which are questions/things to do) might be better with the hard copy of the book though (since I am not often in a spot where I can write things down as I listen to the audiobook

What didn’t you like about Marilu Henner’s performance?

While Marilu did a great job of reading her book, I had to rate her performance low because of the number of time she mentioned her website and memory coaching. It seemed out of place, distracting and gave an infomercial feel to the book.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Total Memory Makeover?

Any reference to her website or memory coaching should have been mentioned only once at the beginning of the book, if at all.

Any additional comments?

Disappointing. While Marilu did a great job of reading, the number of times she mentioned her website made this book seem like an infomercial for her memory coaching. Also, I stopped listening halfway through the book because the tips seemed to be mostly just common sense. I am disappointed and feel I could find better use of my time and money.
