The man who broke her heart just flew back into her life.

An archer. A pilot. An elevator in free fall.

When a terrifying elevator malfunction forces Tansy Cooper and Chance Lewis into the dark together, the truth they never faced comes out—and so do the feelings she swore she buried.

Tansy Cooper doesn’t have time for love—or for the dangerously charming helicopter pilot who once walked away and left her heart in pieces. She’s built a steady life rooted in family, horses, and a community that depends on her strength, and she’s not willing to risk that peace for anyone.

Chance Lewis didn’t come home to relive the past. He came back to make things right. But when fate traps them together in a moment neither of them can escape, the distance between them begins to crumble. Old wounds resurface, unspoken words finally find air, and Tansy is forced to confront the one thing she fears most: trusting her heart again.

Set against the backdrop of small-town Tennessee and a Valentine-season charity that means everything to her, Too Grumpy for Cupid is a slow-burn, second-chance romance about forgiveness, faith, and the courage it takes to love again—when walking away feels safer than staying.

This was a sweet second-chance romance with a small-town feel. Tansy and Chance are forced to confront their past when an unexpected elevator incident brings unresolved feelings back to the surface. The story explores forgiveness and rekindled trust, though it wasn’t much of an attention grabber for me—it ended up being just an okay listen overall. The narration was fine, but it was sometimes difficult to tell when the male or female characters were speaking since there wasn’t any distinction between the voices.

I love the clean Christian second chance love story. It was cute how they came back together. The narration was great.

Brand new to me author Jenny Beth Hall and narrator Laurie Mullinax unfold a second chance for former couple Tansy and Chance. Laurie's Southern accent lends an authenticity to the story pulling the listener into the events as they play out.

Chance is a helicopter pilot returning home to Tennessee from his stint in Montana. Transitioning from a medical rescue pilot to a concierge contractor pilot has Chance dealing with a completely different clientele.

Tansy has remained home living with her father as they navigate through losses of her brother and mother. Remaining on the ranch as a riding instructor to children has been a fulfilling life. She gets to enjoy time with her sister and niece.

Twice in one week emergency circumstances bring Tansy and Chance together testing their tentative friendship. Their former romantic relationship was broken leaving them with threads of a friendship in its wake. As the story unfolds, secrets are revealed that helps them both better understand why things happened as they did.

There are threads of Christian belief and faith woven into this romance.

Other recent books I've listened to have spoiled me when it comes to the nuanced narration that clearly delineates characters especially when it comes to those opposite from the narrator. That would be my only wish to a better listening experience.

I will definitely look to read/listen to more of this author's work.
