A Gripping & Immersive Fantasy Novella

This was a gripping, character-driven fantasy novella that I think fans of Six of Crows (and maybe even Game of Thrones) would appreciate. We follow multiple perspectives and see how ordinary people are led to start a revolution through collective strength after enduring oppression and corruption.
The audiobook which was amazing! Robin Coppock does the narration and does a great job at making every character (even side characters) feel distinct. Overall, this was an incredibly immersive reading experience.

Perfect Tone

You can tell that this audiobook was produced on a budget, but within those limitations, it was handled thoughtfully and with care. The author did a phenomenal job choosing a narrator who fit the tone and atmosphere of the story really well. The narration felt appropriate for the world, the grit, and the emotional weight of the book, which goes a long way in an audiobook experience.

That said, this is a story that features multiple POVs, and I do think it could have benefited from at least one additional narrator. Multiple narrators can be expensive, and I completely understand why that wasn’t feasible here, but having another voice might have helped further distinguish the characters and elevate the listening experience.

Even with that in mind, this was not a bad audiobook by any means. It does a solid job delivering the story and stays true to the tone of the book. Overall, it feels like a well-executed audiobook within realistic constraints, and I’d still recommend it if you’re deciding whether or not to give the audio format a try.
