To China with Love is a Hardboiled Thriller featuring Jack Handler, one of Michael Carrier's favorite characters. Actually, it is the fifteenth Jack Handler book created by Michael, and is the first title in his new (third) series: "Jack Unchained". The first Handler Series was called the "Getting to Know Jack" series. It included the following titles: Jack and the New York Death Mask, Murder on Sugar Island, Superior Peril, Superior Intrigue, Sugar Island Girl Missing in Paris, Wealthy Street Murders, and Murders in Strangmoor Bog.

The second Jack Handler Series was called "Jack's Justice". It also included seven titles: Ghosts of Cherry Street, Assault on Sugar Island, Dog Fight, Murder at Whitefish Point, Superior Shoal, From Deadwood to Deep State, and Sault. All the Jack Handler books are self-contained, and can be read in any order. Still, the author recommends reading the books in each series, beginning with the first.
