Historia
The human soul is hungry for beauty; we seek it everywhere in landscape, music, art, clothes, furniture, gardening, companionship, love, religion, and in ourselves. When we experience the Beautiful, there is a wonderful sense of homecoming; we feel fully alive. Our lives become illuminated, and behind the shudder of appearances we come to glimpse the sure form of things. On Beauty: The Invisible Embrace, Irish poet and philosopher John O'Donohue invites us to remember and to awaken the Beautiful.

Historia
In The Invisible World, scholar and poet John O'Donohue recovers Celtic spirituality's original mysteries, sharing practices and beliefs that enrich Ireland and its people to this day. For the Celts all life was sacred, yet they reserved their greatest reverence not for what they could see but for what they could not. Around them they sensed an "invisible world", the great unknown from which they came and the source of eternal wonder in their lives.

Our bodies are mere outlines of a vast and complex interior world, a landscape of contradiction and immense mystery. This Celtic view of the human condition predates Christianity yet survives to this day as part of Ireland's unique spiritual tradition. In The Inner Landscape, poet and Catholic scholar John O'Donohue explores the themes of self-exile and hardship and the Celtic way of welcoming paradox and finding precious light in the darkest valleys of our inner terrain.

Many famed music producers are known for a particular sound that has its day. Rick Rubin is known for something else: creating a space where artists of all different genres and traditions can home in on who they really are and what they really offer. He has made a practice of helping people transcend their self-imposed expectations in order to reconnect with a state of innocence from which the surprising becomes inevitable. Over the years, he has learned that being an artist isn’t about your specific output, it’s about your relationship to the world.

"In the middle of the road of my life I awoke in a dark wood, where the true way was wholly lost." When you find yourself suddenly without bearings, as Dante Alighieri voiced so well centuries ago, where will you look for guidance? Throughout the ages, teaches David Whyte, the language of poetry has held a special power to hazard ourselves boldly at the "fierce edges" of our lives. On Midlife and the Great Unknown, you will engage with poetic imagination as it was meant to be experienced.

On When the Heart Breaks, David Whyte invites you to join him in an investigation of a question that rests at the center of human experience. We are all interconnected—and dependent on each other to shape the world in which we live. Yet even though technology has allowed us to digitally share our lives with more people than ever, the result has been a growing pattern of personal isolation, alienation, and division. Why is this? “We are seeing the manifestation of collective trauma,” says luminary Thomas Hübl, who has reached thousands of people around the world through his teachings on mysticism and healing.

The Wild Rose ends with the dramatic Barn Fire Incident in which the author and his steady new young Barb stallion, Punk, pull a flame stunned mare out of a burning barn, just seconds before the whole burning structure collapses, then together they both drive straight out of that book and into a new life in the next book. This third book in the trilogy brings the story far away from all those troubled times, ins and outs, and hardships and betrayals involved in the author’s effort to gather up those old style Indian Ponies of his youth.

With the imagery of a poet and the reflection of a philosopher, David Whyte turns his attention to 52 ordinary words, each its own particular doorway into the underlying currents of human life. Beginning with "Alone" and closing with "Work", each chapter is a meditation on meaning and context, an invitation to shift and broaden our perspectives on the inevitable vicissitudes of life: pain and joy, honesty and anger, confession and vulnerability, the experience of feeling besieged and the desire to run away from it all.

Resumen del Editor
"When we stand before crucial thresholds in our lives," observes Irish poet and philosopher John O'Donohue, "we have no rituals to protect, encourage, and guide us as we cross over into the unknown. For such crossings, we need to find new words."
In To Bless the Space Between Us, O'Donohue presents an adaptation of his thought-provoking book of the same title, providing comfort and insights to illuminate the passage of our life path. Following seven rhythms of the human journey - Beginnings, Desires, Thresholds, Homecoming, States of the Heart, Callings, and Beyond Endings - more than 80 poetic and gracious invocations in this collection can be used as tools for self-transformation, as meditations for deeper contemplation, or as simple prayers for ourselves or our loved ones.
With blessings such as "For Love in a Time of Conflict", "For Belonging", "For Equilibrium", "On Meeting a Stranger", "In Praise of Earth", and many more, these lyrical selections "will invite you to awaken your own power to bless and will suggest to you the secret world of healing and plenitude and providence that encircles, shelters, and guides your every breath and step".
To Bless the Space Between Us features the music of Irish harpist Áine Minogue.

The ancient Toltecs believed that life, as we perceive it, is a dream. We each live in our own personal dream, and these come together to form the dream of the planet, or the world in which we live. Problems arise when our perception of the dream becomes clouded with negativity, drama, and judgment (of ourselves and others), because it's in these moments of suffering that we have forgotten that we are the architects of our own reality and we have the power to change our dream if we choose.

Historia
Turning the other cheek does not mean standing by while the enemies of God dismantle Christian civilization and brainwash our children. Decrying the cowardice that masquerades as meekness, Eric Metaxas summons the Church to battle. An attenuated and unbiblical “faith” based on what Bonhoeffer called “cheap grace” has sapped the spiritual vitality of millions of Americans. Paying lip service to an insipid “evangelism,” they shrink from combating the evils of our time. Metaxas refutes the pernicious lie that fighting evil politicizes Christianity.

The secret to happiness is to acknowledge and transform suffering, not to run away from it. Here, Thich Nhat Hanh offers practices and inspiration transforming suffering and finding true joy. Thich Nhat Hanh acknowledges that because suffering can feel so bad, we try to run away from it or cover it up by consuming. We find something to eat or turn on the television. But unless we’re able to face our suffering, we can’t be present and available to life, and happiness will continue to elude us.

The Qur'an, believed by Muslims to be the word of God, was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad 1,400 years ago. It is the supreme authority in Islam and the living source of all Islamic teaching; it is a sacred text and a book of guidance that sets out the creed, rituals, ethics, and laws of the Islamic religion. It has been one of the most influential books in the history of literature. Recognized as the greatest literary masterpiece in Arabic, it has nevertheless remained difficult to understand in its English translations.

When you find yourself suddenly without bearings, as Dante Alighieri voiced so well centuries ago, where will you look for guidance? Throughout the ages, teaches David Whyte, the language of poetry has held a special power to hazard ourselves boldly at the "fierce edges" of our lives. On Midlife and the Great Unknown, you will engage with poetic imagination as it was meant to be experienced.

Translated from their original languages - Gaulish, Latin, Irish, and Welsh - the passages and stories in Celtic Spirituality are true artifacts of the Celts' vibrant and varied religion from both the pre-Christian and early Christian period. From a ritual of magical inspiration to stories of the ancient gods and adventures of long-forgotten heroes, Freeman has unearthed a stunning collection of Celtic work.

According to Whyte, we humans are involved not just with one marriage with a significant other. We also have made secret vows to our work and unspoken vows to an inner, constantly developing self. Whyte's thesis is that to separate these marriages in order to balance them is to destroy the fabric of happiness itself; that in each of these marriages, will, effort, and hard work are overused, overrated, and in many ways self-defeating.

Blessed by this book read by John O'Donohue
This was my very first purchase from Audible several years ago. I played it every night when I was in the hospital and during my long recovery at a convalescent facility. It brought me great comfort then, and through many times since. John O'Donohue's own voice and words spoke to my heart, and have been a comfort to me throughout many of my life's challenges. I am grateful to own this audio book, so I can hear these blessings in his own voice. I am blessed. I hope to be a blessing.

I loved this!
This is a beautiful version! O’Donahue is well spoken and interspersed music between segments, it is so easy to listen to on repeat!

Beautiful book
To those that thought the narrator (author) were monotone and too fast…
Maybe your read speed wasn’t quite right - this can be adjusted.
In my opinion, hearing a book read by John O’Donohue is so incredibly soothing, calming and just lovely.
To future listeners, please don’t let the 1&2 star reviews stop you.
