To Begin Again

Maggie McCrea is fleeing an abusive ex-husband who is being released from prison. Fearing he might try to do her harm, she leaves her home and job on the east coast and travels as far as her money will take her. She ends up in Flat Rock, Montana with twenty dollars in her handbag, tried and hungry. She lands a temporary job at Marge's Cafe'.
Clay Hardison is seeking to hire a housekeeper and cook for himself and four ranch hands. His previous housekeeper had stated when resigning that the isolation of his ranch was just too much. She needed more than the occasional trip to town to satisfy her social life. Clay decided he would hire a man this time. A man could take the loneliness better than a woman.
Marge has taken Maggie under her wing and decides that the job at Clay's ranch would be perfect tor Maggie. Marge convinces Clay to hire Maggie by serving him a slice of Maggie's homemade apple pie. Whoever said that "A way to a man's heart is through his stomach" knew what they were talking about.
