Travelling alone from Amsterdam to Lyon, she discovers family secrets and her own narrative as a second-generation Jewish Canadian. With vulnerability, humour, and wisdom, Lewis’s memoir asks tough questions about her identity as a secular Jew, the accuracy of family stories, and the impact of the Holocaust on subsequent generations.

Fantastic story of self discovery

Naomi Lewis’s book is a small trip but a massive journey of many small important ideas. The author’s narration adds to the experience my bringing a first person perspective of all the issues she tackles. The exploration of these small human issues is thought provoking, and deftly handled my Ms Lewis’s wonderful prose.
