It’s one thing to vanquish killers on a computer screen, and another when the screen disappears and you’re the one about to be killed. Until today, the only dangers fifteen-year-old Leo Dawson faced were on a video game. When he and his dad decide to check on the family farmhouse in northern Michigan, they make a startling discovery. His father’s dog, who disappeared thirty years ago, has returned. The shock brings back memories of an awful summer decades ago when a serial killer terrorized the small city where Leo’s father grew up. Leo is abducted by the killer and thrust ahead three decades. As he struggles to escape from his eminent fate, he joins forces with Bria, a teenage gamer girl, who, like him, would rather be strategizing fantasy Warcraft games on a hand-held device than playing them for real in order to outwit a shrewd, cold murderer. This time there is no keyboard, no APP, and no HELP button. Leo’s only hope for survival rests with the skills and strategies he has learned from years of gaming. Will it be enough?
