Some who hid among the cliffs and secret desert places merely waited to be found. Star travelers marooned on fifteenth-century Earth among primitive civilizations of the American Southwest, Kira’s people hide in an inhospitable land centuries away from rescue. Escape becomes the mantra of Kira’s life – escape the humans who attacked her hidden cliff village, escape the desert that constantly threatens death, escape the faction who wants her silenced, escape Earth before the humans destroy the ones she loves. Though her people live a near-stone-age existence by day, through dreaming, they teach each new generation and maintain their culture and science. Her people look to her extraordinary dream talents to hasten their rescue before time runs out. While guarding against hostile enemies, Kira must immerse herself in developing those talents to preserve her people and their culture.

As she struggles to connect in the dream world, Kira learns that Earth may not be as ordinary as it seemed, and those she had called enemies are also the ones she needs to protect. Her journey across canyons, mountains, and time answers questions at the heart of purpose, devotion, and sacrifice.
