Incredible!

This book was ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE!! Alora's stories are always so deep and meaningful, and this one did not disappoint. It hit me right in the heart, but then made up for it in the absolute best ways! If you want to feel deeply, I cannot recommend this one enough! I adore these characters, and this story was seriously more amazing than I can even describe!

update: just finished the audiobook for a reread, and omggggggg! Seriously this story is so amazing! The main characters are some of my favorite characters from any book ever, and hearing their story come to life via audio was incredible!

This is everything I thought I wanted and more

Oh my gosh, I could totally relate to this main character as a people pleaser. It did confuse me a little bit why she didn’t get more mad in the beginning, but it really starts to make sense when you realized how she was treated all of her life until this point. I absolutely love the shade, and don’t get me started on Jamison! What an interesting animal companion. I also love how everything wrapped up and I think the author did a very good job on why it ended the way it did. If you read it, you’ll know what I mean.

Interesting world annoying main character

I did like this book but what ruined it for me was the main character. She is just to naive for me. Yes I get she has a toxic need for validation and that her desperate need for approval from people who ate just cruel to her . Then she meets someone who is kind to her and she is not that great towards them. it's like she is a masochist or something. I couldn't stand her for most of the book. Even at the end she still was more focused on now being approved of by the king and how those who were awful to her now want to ne friends. I thought she had grown and developed untill the last bit of the ending she says that and it's annoying. In some ways she does get better but she still remains just naive and desperate for approval. I loved the world and the adorable animals. I just think they deserved better than the lead female. The author is incredible at creating a world that i loved. The shade and the side characters saved this book and made it worth listening to.
