A bold, celebratory exploration of living single and childfree from the host of the Thrive Solo podcast

Are you tired of people asking why you’ve “ended up” single? Do you just want to do your own thing—without the pressure of marriage, kids, or expectations? In a world that still idealizes traditional marriage and motherhood, Lucy Meggeson offers a powerful counter-narrative: being single and childfree is just as joyful, meaningful, and fulfilling as being in a partnership.

Drawing from personal experiences, candid conversations, and the latest research, Lucy reveals the freedoms and opportunities that come along with the single life—in spite of what the world assumes. She’ll show you how to:

  • Redefine happiness beyond coupledom
  • Own your unique path and challenge made-up stereotypes
  • Prioritize the things you truly want out of life

Whether it’s creating space to pursue passion projects or embracing the spontaneity of designing days on your terms, you can celebrate all that’s possible when you live life unapologetically and nurture the most important relationship of all: the one you have with yourself. It’s time to reject outdated narratives and claim your solo life as one full of fabulousness and endless potential.©2025 Lucy Meggeson (P)2025 Hay House LLC

Reseñas de la Crítica

“This delightful, insightful, and totally unapologetic take on the lives of childfree single women is a testament to thriving solo. Lucy Meggeson has so much to bring to this book – her experiences as a leading podcaster on the topic, her interviews with single childfree women, her understanding of the relevant research and contemporary context of childfree singlehood, and her own experiences, humor, and wisdom. Here’s to her and all the fortunate readers who discover this gem.”
Bella DePaulo, PhD, author of Single at Heart

“Thank you to Lucy for giving the modern single woman the space to be heard for who she really is, and not who society and the press think she is – or should be.”
Jody Day, psychotherapist and author of Living the Life Unexpected

Lucy Meggeson's new book is a jam-packed, fast listen, due in part to her gorgeous voice! I've been following Lucy's "Spinsterhood Reimagined" podcast for several years before she retitled it, "Thrive, Solo." I'm in my late 60s, now widowed, but childless by choice and do not regret it. Most of the couples who have been our friends for over 40 years also chose not to have children and lead busy, creative lives. Lucy is not proposing that you not have children if you want them and can have them – but that they do come with big life changes - least of which can be time and financial constraints – as women tend to put themselves in 2nd or 3rd place to be the caretakers of others – which can sometimes lead to burn-out and illness. In this crazy-chaotic world we are currently living in, having the most control over your life, finances and lifestyle is easier when you are in the driver's seat of your own life adventure. Having the freedom to go somewhere at the last minute, take care of yourself and follow the intuitive guidance you are given is a gift. Lucy's book definitely gives you food for thought and has cited many articles and clinical research to back up her assertions. Her message is to not beat yourself up and wait for the optimum set of circumstances to finally live the life of your dreams - and if the right partner or having a child doesn't show up for you as imagined on your timeline – be grateful you have the freedom to rewrite your life adventure and celebrate that just maybe, the universe has other joys to deliver for you which can be soul-nourishing in unexpected ways!
