Kate Price grew up in a small mill town in central Pennsylvania with her sister and parents in northern Appalachia. He went on to write the bestselling book, The Body Keeps the Score, which features Price's story, as the two worked together to find out about her past. When Price, whose brain had been protecting her by shutting out these horrific memories, felt safe enough, she along with van der Kolk as her guide, discovered what that darkness that lay within her was. Her father had abused and trafficked her as a child.

A wonderful memoir reminiscent of Educated

This memoir was beautifully written. It wove together sadness, grit, and resilience masterfully. I have recommended it to several people, but encouraged reading it as a hard copy as I felt the author’s narration didn’t match the emotion presented in the book - it was a little bit flat.

Resilience and Triumph

An incredible journey and very well written. Although the authors cadence was robotic, the story was compelling and held my attention.

This is going to help so many people. I admire the authors bravery and dedication to protect children.

Eye opening

Now I know why I’ve always felt so scared at truck and rest stops especially on the highways in that area. I knew bad things were happening but this horror was beyond my imagination. Thank you for the education.

Retelling was amazing

I thought it was a lot and a little long. However I understand why. I wasn’t overly thrilled with the narrators tone and the reading of the story.
